Production began June 8, 2013 on the Nicolas Cage thriller Tokarev, and all of Mobile, Alabama is buzzing with excitement! Tokarev, directed by Paco Cabezas, stars Nicolas Cage as a former criminal who is drawn back into the criminal underworld when his daughter is kidnapped by the Russian mob. He rounds up his old crew, played by Max Ryan (Sex & the City 2, Death Race) and Michael McGrady (The Frozen Ground, Southland) to track her kidnappers.

His search goes outside the bounds of the law, alienating his wife, played by Rachel Nichols (P2, GI Joe) and putting him at odds with the lead detective on the case, played by screen legend Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon, 2012).

Other castmembers include Peter Stormare (Fargo, Armageddon), Pasha D. Lychnikoff (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull), Max Fowler (The Killing), Patrice Cols (Vive la France) and Aubrey Peeples (Ace Ventura: Pet Detective Jr.).

The screenplay was written by Jim Agnew & Sean Keller. Hannibal’s Richard Rionda Del Castro is producing with Michael Mendelsohn of Union Patriot Capital.

Several onlookers gathered near the Mobile Convention Center to witness filming of a key scene in which a car was set ablaze, resulting in an explosion that drew cheers from the film crew and the gathered crowd.

Tokarev will film entirely in Mobile and will be completed for delivery in early 2014.
