Hannibal is pleased to announce a fantastic addition to our most ambitious project yet, “USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage.” Academy Award Winner Nicolas Cage has boarded the project and will star in the heroic role of Captain Charles Butler McVay III, who helmed the US Navy Flagship during World War 2. As the war came to a close, the USS Indianapolis delivered the parts of the first atomic bombs, which would eventually end the war when they were dropped over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. After completion of their mission, they were torpedoed by a Japanese submarine. The ship sunk in a matter of minutes, killing a third of the crew, and leaving the survivors stranded in the Pacific Ocean for five days battling thirst, hunger and relentless man-eating sharks.
“USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage” will shoot in Mobile, Alabama in June 2015 under the direction of Mario Van Peebles. Further casting is underway. Check back here for more exciting updates!
