Hannibal Classics has purchased the screenplay Tokarev, written by Jim Agnew & Sean Keller. As reported in Screen Daily, Hannibal’s Richard Rionda Del Castro will produce and Patricia Eberle is Executive Producer. A white-knuckle action thriller from start to finish, Tokarev tells the story of a former criminal in search of his daughter’s killers, who learns his past sins are hard to erase and slipping back into a violent life is a little too easy.
The acquisition of Tokarev is a part of a two-picture deal Hannibal has with Agnew & Keller, who are repped by Ava Jamshidi at Industry Entertainment. Hannibal has optioned the scribes’ buddy-action screenplay Into the Black. A young undercover police detective investigates his partner’s murder, enlisting the aid of a gruff, no nonsense old school cop who also happens to be his partner’s father.
Hannibal Classics represents Worldwide Sales for both films.
“Tokarev and Into the Black will mark our second and third collaboration with Agnew and Keller,” says Hannibal Vice President Hayley Magouirk. “They’re great writers with fantastic commercial sensibilities; the films we and our distributors like are the kind of scripts they write.”
Cam Cannon, Hannibal’s Director of Development, describes Tokarev as Taken meets A History of Violence adding, “Jim and Sean always do a great job of creating great characters and putting them through the ringer. With both Tokarev and Into the Black, they start with a conventional premise, and turn it into something original, fun and commercial.”
